'Watchmen' Possible Sequel Addressed
Movie

Patrick Wilson shares his insight on the chance of a sequel to the troubled Warner Bros. Pictures upcoming action fantasy movie being done.

AceShowbiz - The possibility of "Watchmen" getting a sequel has apparently being discussed. Talking to MTV News about it recently was Patrick Wilson, the actor who portrays Nite Owl in the flick. "It's all been talked about," he revealed. "Financially, they like to do that. But all of us, [director] Zack [Snyder] included, all go, 'How on Earth could you do a sequel or prequel?'"

When asked further whether he is interested to reprise his role if the sequel is indeed developed, Wilson came out with a green light stating, "Certainly, artistically, I can't fathom how it would happen. But hey, if Alan Moore writes it, I'd love to read it." He also noted that he has a clause in his contract that allowed for sequels, but was quick to explain that such clause is fairly standard in superhero films' contracts nowadays.

Though sequel talks have crept up to the surface, "Watchmen" still lays in uncertainty due to the legal battle between Warner Bros. Pictures and the 20th Century Fox over the film's rights. In early September, a trial date has been set on January 6, 2009, giving time for discovery and deposition proceedings.

To date, the Zack Snyder-directed film is still listed to be released on March 6, 2009. Set in alternate 1985 America, the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' comic book adaptation gives out the story of a band of superheroes turned vigilantes striving to watch over humanity while faced with a plot to discredit all past and present superheroes. It teams up also Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode and Carla Gugino as the costumed superheroes.
