Dollhouse's producer needs a break to give him some extra time to re-write the scenario for the television series' upcoming season.

AceShowbiz - After the production on the new season of "24" has been shut down for two weeks, another FOX's series, "Dollhouse", gives its cast and crew unexpected vacation time. Producer Joss Whedon announces that the timeout is required to re-write the scripts for upcoming seasons.

Furthermore, the executives from the television station says that the shutdown is designed as Joss reportedly has not had sufficient time to be in the writer's room after directing two of the first three episodes of the series. In line with the bosses' statement, FOX's spokesman says, "We have tremendous confidence in Joss and his team, and we wholeheartedly supported his desire to take some time to focus on upcoming scripts before resuming filming."

However, the executives at the Fox network reportedly admit that they are worried if Joss' "Dollhouse" scripts may not meet the standard. Such thought specifically comes out because the heroine of the show, Echo, which is played by Eliza Dushku, has no free will or ability to do much beyond what she's told to do.

On top of the rumor, some executives are also reported to express their concerns that early episodes of the series have been confusing and hard to follow. Yet, a statement from one of the executives reveals that they still "believe in Joss" and "support the show."

"Dollhouse" is a science fiction drama which revolves around Echo's blossoming self-awareness and her desire to discover her true identity. However, each new engagement results on a new memory and increase danger inside and outside the "Dollhouse".

On each scenario, Echo, who is always under the watchful eye of her handler Boyd, played by Harry Lennix of "24", returns to the mysterious "Dollhouse" where her thoughts, feelings, and experiences are erased by Topher, played by Fran Kranz. As the series progresses, FBI Agent Paul Smith, played by Tahmoh Penikett of "Battlestar Galactica", gathers some clues that lead him closer to the "Dollhouse". Meanwhile, Echo's memories begin to return and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past.
