J.J. Abrams, the filmmaker behind the new 'Star Trek' movie, revealed about initial plan for the original depicter of Captain Kirk in the film.

AceShowbiz - William Shatner, the actor who has portrayed Captain Kirk in the original "Star Trek" television series, actually had a part written for him in new "Star Trek" film. The fact was let out by director/producer J.J. Abrams when he opened up to AMC about the actual plan for the star, "It was very tricky. We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn't quite feel right."
Explaining about the problem the filmmakers have to face, the creator of "Alias added, "The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn't want to do a cameo. We tried desperately to put him in the movie, but he was making it very clear that he wanted the movie to focus on him significantly, which, frankly, he deserves."
"The truth is, the story that we were telling required a certain adherence to the Trek canon and consistency of storytelling. It's funny - a lot of the people who were proclaiming that he must be in this movie were the same people saying it must adhere to canon. Well, his character died on screen. Maybe a smarter group of filmmakers could have figured out how to resolve that."
Few weeks back, Abrams had put the speculation on Shatner making a special appearance in the Paramount Pictures film to rest. At the time, he stated that the only cast member from the original films reprising his role in "Star Trek" is Leonard Nimoy, who will once again return as Mr. Spock.
The eleventh feature film of the famed sci-fi movie, "Star Trek" stars Chris Pine, Eric Bana, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg and many else. It will resolve around Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members during their years at Starfleet Academy. Scripted by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, it will be released in theaters on May 8, 2009.
