Live-Action 'TMNT' Confirmation Debunked

Despite Kevin Eastman's previous confirmation on the making of brand new live-action movie about the four ninja turtles, "Untitled New TMNT Project", recent report has suggested that the news holds no truth in it. Writing a response to Eastman's remark, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer Stephen Murphy wrote in his blog, The 5th Turtle, that it is "complete nonsense and entirely untrue".

Prior to this reaction, Murphy has also squashed Playmates Toys' claim about the same matter which led to Playmates to change their statement writing, "Following the success of the TMNT theatrical release in 2007, Mirage Licensing is in negotiation with several companies about a new TMNT movie for release in 2010." Commenting on the revised words, he further stated that he "can wholeheartedly confirm" the statement, but still noted that the new film is most likely to be coming out in 2011.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" is originated from Mirage Studios' well-known comic book about a group of anthropomorphic turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello, trained to be skilled Ninja warriors by their sensei, Master Splinter. It was created by Eastman and his friend Peter Laird, but was later revamped by Ryan Brown and Stephen Murphy when Eastman and Laird decided to hand it over to Mirage.

Meanwhile, on the CG-animation version of the ninja turtles, "", the Kevin Munroe-directed movie has been released on March 23, 2007. It follows the four mutant brothers who have grown apart since the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder as they have to work together as a solid team when an army of ancient creatures are summoned to take over the world.
