Letting out further information on new live-action film about the four ninja turtles, co-creator Kevin Eastman has confirmed that the live-action movie has indeed been talked about.

AceShowbiz - The rumor on the yet untitled live-action movie about the four ninja turtles, "Untitled New TMNT Project", has been confirmed. Responding to the speculation on the possible development of a new TMNT, Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" has let out verification in a message he posted at Heavy Metal Forum.

There, the comic book artist wrote, "Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better 're-invention' (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film - like what was done with Batman." Explaining further about the idea for the new project, he hinted that it may be dealing with the origin story of the mutant heroes.

Aside from teasing the plot, he also revealed that there is possibility that Steve Barron, the director of the original 1990 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", may return to tackle the project. "Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc...there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original "first" TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right - but no official word yet...will keep you posted," he noted.

Back on March 23, 2007, Warner Bros. Pictures have released the CG-animation version of the ninja turtles, "TMNT". Directed by Kevin Munroe, it tells that the four mutant brothers have grown apart since the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder. But, soon they have to work together as a solid team as an army of ancient creatures has been summoned to take over the world. Since its release, the flick has generated $95 million from its worldwide sales.
