'Quantum of Solace' Delayed a Week

The highly-anticipated movie about superspy James Bond in his latest daring adventures has experienced a change of schedule in its release making it to be opened a week later than its original date.

AceShowbiz - Though highly-anticipated by many, the 22nd James Bond movie, "Quantum of Solace", unmistakably won't be greeting its fans on the big screen as scheduled. On Thursday, August 21, Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures have released an announcement about their decision to make a change in its theatrical release date pushing it back a week later than its original plan.

Initially slated to hit theaters on November 7, "Quantum" is now bumped to November 14, the same day Baz Luhrmann's romantic drama starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, "Australia", and MGM comedy "Soul Men" get their wide release. The Marc Forster-directed spy action film was moved back to take advantage of the forthcoming Thanksgiving holiday as it sees to debut one week closer to Thanksgiving weekend.

On the delay, the studios explained, "The strategic move places the highly-anticipated James Bond adventure one week closer to the prime movie-going holiday window and takes advantage of last week's decision to move the release date of 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'." Additionally, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for the Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Group, Jeff Blake said, "We believe November 14th is a great date that allows us to play straight through Thanksgiving and right into Christmas."

"The Bond films have a long history of entertaining audiences in this holiday corridor going back to Goldeneye in 1995. The studio enjoyed tremendous success opening 'Casino Royale' in North America on November 17, 2006, and we believe this decision will give the public a wider opportunity to see the film over the holiday."

With "Quantum" migration to November 14, Seann William Scott-starring R-rated comedy "Role Models" is forced to shift its date to November 7 taking the same opening day as DreamWorks Pictures' animation "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa".

Continuing the story of the superspy Bond after he is left broken-hearted by the betrayal of his lover Vesper Lynd in "Casino Royale", "Quantum" will follow him as he pursues the truth while fighting the urge to make the mission personal. Revealing that the organization behind Vesper's act is more complex and dangerous, he plunges into the mission that brings him almost around the world to find out that his enemy is seeking to dominate one of the world's most important natural resources.

Produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the movie features Daniel Craig for the second time as Bond. He will be supported by a slew of other actors, including Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Gemma Arterton, Jesper Christensen and Judi Dench. It will be getting its world premiere in London on October 29 which is said to be attended by Prince William and Prince Harry.
