Penelope Cruz to Be Honored With Gotham Award Tribute

The co-star of Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem in 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' will be awarded with a Gotham Award Tribute at the 18th annual Gotham Awards.

AceShowbiz - Celebrated Spanish actress Penelope Cruz will be adding another statuette to her award shelf. The 34-year-old has been reported to be receiving a Gotham Award Tribute at the nonprofit Independent Feature Project's 18th annual Gotham Award.

She will be honored with the special prize since she is considered to be among the independent film community's most notable individuals due to her career achievements. The award itself which last year was given to actor Javier Bardem will be presented to her on December 2 at Manhattan's Cipriani Wall Street.

According to Gotham Awards' official site, other Tribute honorees for the IFP event will be announced on September 15, 2008, while the full nominees list for the awards will be unearthed on October 20. The nominations will cover categories from Best Feature to Best Film Not Playing at Theaters Near You.

Cruz's recent feature film works, include Isabel Coixet's romantic drama "Elegy" and Woody Allen's drama comedy "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". While "Elegy" has hit limited theaters on August 8, "Vicky" was released nationwide on August 15.
