'Austin Powers' Star Mike Myers Recruited for Quentin Tarantino's 'Basterds'
Movie

The funny actor known for his work in 'Austin Powers' reportedly has been touted for a role in forthcoming film project by Quentin Tarantino entitled 'Inglourious Basterds'.

AceShowbiz - In an interesting scoop coming from "Inglourious Basterds", well-known comic actor Mike Myers has been reported to take part in the upcoming World War II film project. It is further explained that the "Austin Powers" star has been tapped for a small role in the action drama movie from acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

The 45-year-old is going to portray British General Ed Fenech who is described to be a military mastermind taking part in planning the scheme to kill the Nazi leaders. He will be joining Brad Pitt who will star as Lieutenant Aldo Raine and Eli Roth who is tapped to be Sgt. Donnie Donowitz. This tidbit was first reported by Tarantino Archives.

On other casting news related to "Basterds", the long-rumored to be among the cast ensemble actor Adam Sandler has confirmed to RTE.ie that he has been offered a part in the movie, but has to decline the chance over scheduling conflict. "Yeah it's true," confessed Sandler. "It is, and I read the script, it's fantastic. But I'm shooting at the very same time. I won't be able to do it. I'm doing a movie with Judd Apatow at the same time so that's not going to happen, but I did read it. It is awesome."

Planned to be finished before the 62nd Annual Cannes Film Festival, "Basterds" follows the story of a band of disgraced Jewish-American soldiers formed to head on a suicide mission to bomb a theater full of Nazi leaders in France. It is set to start filming on October 13 in Germany. Allegedly, director/writer Tarantino is still persuading other possible cast, including Simon Pegg, Nastassja Kinski, David Krumholtz and B.J. Novak.
