Screenwriter Justin Marks opens up about his live-action adaptation of Green Arrow entitled 'Super Max'.

AceShowbiz - It has been reported earlier that "Super Max", David Goyer's live-adaptation of Green Arrow, is going to put the modern-day Robin Hood in a high security prison filled with B and C list villains and rogue superheroes, including Lex Luthor, Joker and The Riddler. What hasn't been shared out is screenwriter Justin Marks' visionary on the movie adaptation.
Bringing the less famous masked hero in the DC Comics universe to the big screen, the "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" writer revealed to MTV that he thinks of Green Arrow, more as a man who possesses MacGyver's tricks. Comparing the Oliver 'Ollie' Queen's alter ego to Batman, he commented, "I see him as the Jason Bourne of superheroes, a guy who exists with his own sort of set of tricks."
"And I think the difference between Ollie Queen and a guy like Bruce Wayne - they're both rich. They both have their things. But Batman is about his equipment and is about his theatricality and about his detective skills. And Green Arrow is a guy who's really just the sort of MacGyver type. In his hand, anything can be a weapon."
Talking further on his take of the superhero, Marks noted that the film will still provide audience with Arrow's background story, but use a different manner. He explained, "We do deal with his origin - he's got a very interesting origin with a desert island and everything else - but we get to the core of Green Arrow not by showing where he starts but by pushing him into a key moment in his life where everything he has is lost, and he's got to earn it all back. "
Apart from all those things above, Marks also discussed about the appearance of Arrow's super-heroine wife, Black Canary, to MTV's Splash Page. Confessing that he is still hopeful Canary will be included, Marks let out that up to this point, there are visible plans on that. "I mean, right now he's in prison. It's the kind of thing where I know there's talk of working with her, and she's obviously a huge part of Ollie's life and now that they're married especially," he said. "[But] I don't know. I don't know how they're kind of planning on doing it."
He further continued expressing his reluctance on putting the character aside by explaining the importance of Canary in Arrow's life. "I think that's another unique side to his character - that unlike Bruce Wayne he's not really the playboy," he gushed. "He's the guy who has the steady girl who hates his guts and they come in and out of each other's lives all the time. There's a real cool dynamic to having a superhero couple."
