Adapting her "Maid in Manhattan" movie for TV series to be aired on ABC, the actress-singer boards the co-producer seat while at the same time also is giving "a fountain of ideas".

AceShowbiz - Despite the pros and cons addressed to "Maid in Manhattan", Jennifer Lopez is aiming to bring the 2002 comedy romance flick to the small screen. She is teaming up with ABC to develop a TV series based on it which will see her lending a helping hand to co-produce alongside Joe Roth and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.

Screen writer Chad Hodge who's been tapped to pen the pilot said, unlike the original movie, the TV series will feature "a different maid in a different Manhattan." He furthermore explained, "While the hotel's clientele is an obvious part of this world, I'm more interested in the downstairs part of Upstairs, Downstairs," when referring to the series' main character, a young Latina from the Bronx working at a Manhattan hotel who tries to pursue her dreams.

The "Maid in Manhattan" TV series, Chad said, will focus mostly on the main character's relationships with her fellow co-workers.

Playing the movie's main character Marisa Ventura, Lopez is said to have been very involved in developing the highly anticipated TV series, giving "a fountain of ideas", Chad claimed.

The attempt to bring "Maid in Manhattan" to TV is the second by ABC. The network previously tried to do so in the 2004 - 2005 season, yet the project never came to fruition. Negotiations are still undergoing so there have yet further details on the latest attempt.
