'Happy Feet' Sequel En Route

Nearly two years after 'Happy Feet' scored a huge commercial and critical success, it is said that the animation film about dancing penguins has gotten its sequel on the works.

AceShowbiz - Rumor has it the feet stomping penguins are lining up to return to the big screen. The Academy Award-winning animated feature "Happy Feet" about a poor in singing but genius at tap dancing young penguin, has been noted to be getting its sequel, "Happy Feet 2", done by Dr. D Studios.

At the website of Dr. D, the sequel to the George Miller-directed animation movie has been listed under the category of "In Production". Supporting the development of the sequel, the company formed by Omnilab Media Group and filmmaker George Miller also let out a press release stating, "We are currently working on Happy Feet 2, with several other film projects to follow and we are actively hiring."

Despite many indicating that the sequel is indeed in the making, no further detail has been shared about the follow-up film. Hence, when the movie will come out or what story it will pick up still remains a mystery.

Released on November 17, 2008, the original "Happy Feet" is filled with a line of A-listers as its characters' voice actors, including Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, etc. Since its debut, this animation film has grossed $198 million domestically and $384.3 million worldwide. It also has stayed atop the box office chart for three straight weekends.
