Selena Gomez says in a firm statement that she won't be a solo artist, leading to speculation that she doesn't want to fall into Miley Cyrus' path.

AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez surprisingly reveals that she is in the middle of working on a musical project. She says that the album will carry pop and rock tunes. However, though she plans on creating her own sound, she refuses to go single. Instead, she wants to join a band without her name attached to it. "I'm going to be in a band-no Selena Gomez stuff," she said in an interview. "I'm not going to be a solo artist. I think that I don't want my name attached to it."
Furthermore, she also plans to play instruments on some of the album's tracks. "I basically want to make music that is fun and that parents and kids can jump around to and have a good time to," she said. "I will be singing, and I'm learning drums and playing electric guitar."
Her refusal of being a solo singer makes some wondering that she is actually avoiding any same path as teen icon peer Miley Cyrus who has debuted her solo album "Beakout" on July 22. Selena reportedly refuses to follow Miley's step following their rumored feud.
However, Selena denies the rumor. She says that she just doesn't want to be a copycat who imitates others' style. "You know the Jonas Brothers and people like Demi Lovato are my friends, so I definitely would not copy or do anything that they did. They're really good, obviously, at what they're doing, so I'm going to let them have that. But it's also just kind of fun to learn things."
