Friend Says Morgan Freeman and Wife Are Divorcing

Bill Luckett, his business partner and attorney, tells Access Hollywood that he and wife Myrna Colley-Lee are divorcing and that they actually "have been separated since December of 2007."

AceShowbiz - The life drama of Morgan Freeman continues. Just days after he was involved in a car accident in Mississippi that left him hospitalized, a new report has just surfaced that he and wife Myrna Colley-Lee are divorcing after 24 years of marriage.

One of the actor's business partners says "The Dark Knight" star and Myrna, who's a costume designer for theater, have filed for divorce. The friend, identified as Bill Luckett, who co-owns a restaurant and blues club in Clarksdale, Miss. with Freeman, claims the divorce has been in the works even before the accident occurred.

Bill, who also serves as Freeman's Mississippi-based attorney, confirms to Access Hollywood that despite report on the divorce which has just emerged Freeman and Myrna actually "have been separated since December of 2007."

Freeman and Myrna first met in 1976 when both were working off-Broadway, US Weekly reports. He has two sons, Alfonso and Saifoulaye, from previous relationships. He also adopted his first wife's daughter, Deena, and the couple also had a fourth child, Morgana.

News of the divorce emerges as Freeman is recovering in a Memphis hospital following his car accident Sunday, August 3. His rep confirmed Tuesday, August 5 that the actor is "doing well" after surgery to reconnect nerves and repair damage to his left arm and hand the day before. He reportedly is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days.

The accident is currently under investigation, but no alcohol was involved, a spokesperson for Mississippi Highway Patrol informed Access Hollywood. The spokesperson went on to say that no charges have been filed against Freeman.
