'Prince of Persia' Pushed Back to 2010

Giving an upsetting report to the expecting fans, Walt Disney Pictures announced that the release date of 'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time' has been delayed to summer of 2010.

AceShowbiz - It looks like that "Prince of Persia" fans have to wait longer to see "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" the live action adaptation of the popular video games at the big screen. Walt Disney Pictures, the studio producing the action adventure adaptation, have announced that they have decided to move the release date from its original schedule on June 19, 2009 to May 28, 2010.

On the delaying of the schedule, the mouse house do not offer any reason. Still, with the new release date, the Mike Newell-directed film will have a four day opening due to the Memorial Day weekend. Nevertheless, the new date set "Sands of Time" pinned between Mike Myers' "Shrek Goes Fourth", which is scheduled to be released a week prior, and Marvel's "Thor" set to hit the theaters a week after.

Focusing its story on the quest of an adventurous prince and his rival princess, "Sands of Time" follows Dastan, the Persian prince who ought to work together with feisty and exotic Princess Tamina in stopping a villainous ruler from possessing the Sands of Time which reversal power can destroy the world. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton as Dastan and Tamina, the movie will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and has started shooting in Morocco at the beginning of July.
