AceShowbiz - Not all is well in the life of Salma Hayek. The movie actress, who's been enjoying her new role as a mother of one daughter, has called off her engagement to businessman fiance Francois-Henri Pinault. A representative for her confirmed the news to E! News on Friday, July 18.

Hayek's spokeswoman Cari Ross told E! News, "We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled." She however declined to elaborate more on that matter, saying "There will be no further comment."

Hayek and Pinault, who's chairman and chief executive officer of the luxury goods company PPR SA, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Stella McCartney, were said to first meet in Venice in May 2006. The couple announced their engagement and Hayek's pregnancy in March last year.

In September the same year, Hayek gave birth to a baby daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault. Soon following the birth of the baby, the pair were rumored to have been planning to wed, about to hold a reportedly $3.5 million wedding next spring.
