Golfer Tiger Woods was one of the big winners at the event, winning three awards all at once, namely Best Male Athlete, Best Golfer, and Best Championship Performance awards.

AceShowbiz - The awards event was held already and the winners were in. This year annual ESPY, stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, Awards took place at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and was hosted by pop singer and actor Justin Timberlake. The 16th annual event will be televised Sunday, July 20 at 9 P.M. ET on ESPN, but here's a peek of the winners.

Professional golfer Tiger Woods was quite a big winner at the event, winning his fifth Best Male Athlete ESPY. He, additionally, also won two other awards, namely his fourth straight Best Golfer award and the Best Championship Performance award for winning the U.S. Open.

Kevin Everett, who played for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League, was honored with the Jimmy V ESPY for Perseverance award. Football player Brett Favre took home the ESPY Best Record Breaking Performance award, who upon accepting the nod was shown a video of his accomplishments.

Some other award winners among others were; Josh Hamilton (Best Comeback), Roger Federer (Best Male Tennis Player), Sidney Crosby (Best NHL Player), Norm Duke (Best Bowler), Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (Best Fighter) and Maria Sharapova (Best Female Tennis Player).
