Creator Discusses 'The Simpsons Movie' Sequel

In an interview at the Television Critics Association's press tour, 'The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening shared his insight on the possibility of a sequel film.

AceShowbiz - The 2007 animated comedy film "The Simpsons Movie" has proved that the feature film adaptation of the satirical parody series has been waited by many of its fans. Nailing the top box office chart on its first weekend with $74 million, the David Silverman-directed movie has since grossed $526.8 worldwide. But, the massive success doesn't seem to affect its filmmakers to move on with a sequel soon.

Discussing about the possibility of "The Simpsons Movie 2", creator Matt Groening gave out hint that there maybe a sequel in the future, but insisted that it won't be outed for the time being. "It's going to be a while before a second movie," the 54-year-old cartoonist explained during the Television Critics Association's semi-annual press tour on July 14. "We'll get to it, I'm sure. But no plans at the moment."

This feature film version of "The Simpsons" has been released in theaters on July 27, 2007. Following another adventure faced by the famous sarcastic family consisted of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, it features the voices of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria and many others.
