Confirmed: 'Sex and the City' Sequel in Early Development

On Thursday, July 10, one of HBO's executives revealed that the sequel of hit summer romantic comedy 'Sex and the City' is indeed planned and development is underway.

Exceeding box office watchers' expectation by opening big and continuing to bring more gold with $146.5 million from the domestic sales, it is only a matter of time for "" sequel talks to hyphen. And just recently, the rumor of "" development has grown to be more than a speculation with HBO confirming the matter.

Giving a green light on the rumor about "SATC" second movie, the head of West Coast's HBO programming Michael Lombardo confessed that the plans for sequel are underway. "There is enormous interest by Warner Brothers Newline to do another 'Sex and the City', and I think, in fact, they're trying with our help to put that together now," so claimed Lombardo.

Speaking at the summer press tour of Television Critics Association held at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday, July 10, the executive added, "When that happens, how long it will be, I can't say. I think everybody associated with that project was really heartened by, the enthusiasm from the fans of the show."

Bringing the hit HBO's Golden Globe-winning television series to the big screen four years after the series ended, "SATC" teams up once again the four renowned actresses, , , and , as the four New Yorker friends. The movie from Michael Patrick King has been released on May 30 and debuted atop the box office with $56.8 million over its first three-days weekend. Since then, it has collected $344.9 million worldwide.
