According to the latest reports the pop diva could be heading for another headlining performance at the music channel's annual awards show.

AceShowbiz - Britney Spears could be heading for her third MTV Video Music Awards performance at this year's event, to be held on September 7 in L.A., as the latest news stated that the TV channel bosses would still give her the chance to do it. Speaking in a phone interview with AP, the music channel's president Van Toffler said, "Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?"

Moreover, when the reporter asked Van whether he was joking, he said "Sorta. Who knows?" The president then also added, "I'm not sure how we top Britney opening the show. We are working on it every minute of every day."

Beside talking about Britney's possible addition to headline the upcoming awards show, Van also explained about what kind of performances will the fans see at the show. "The backlot gives us versatility. You can do street performances, on-top-of-building performances, on-the-side-of-a-building performances, inside-of-a-studio performances, so we're pretty excited," Van said.

The pop diva's latest performance at the VMA, happened in 2007 when she performed "Gimme More". Despite being heralded as one Britney's embarrassing performances, according to the Nielsen Media Research, her appearance that time attracted no less that 7.1 million viewers.

Britney herself reportedly is currently working on a new album as the follow up to "Blackout", which reportedly is still at an infant stage until this date. Although no exact details have been outed, on the upcoming record the singer reportedly will be working with two famous producers Sean Garrett and J.R. Rotem.
