The buzz over 'Kung Fu Panda' sequel has hyphened with a recent news suggesting that the follow-up is being tackled on the story board.

AceShowbiz - Delivering a kung fu movie like none before, DreamWorks' latest animation "Kung Fu Panda" has wowed moviegoers as well as box office watchers with its major success of raking in $161.7 million from the U.S. market only. It is no wonder that early talks about the sequel have surfaced. But, is it true that "Kung Fu Panda, the Sequel" is on the way?

It seems that the news may hold some truth. In its latest post, TAG Blog has pointed out that the work on the sequel of the big fat kung fu enthusiast chosen to be the one to save his village from evil kung fu master has begun. "A story crew has started early work in Kung Fu Panda, the Sequel," the blog entry read, "even while animators are hand-drawing new material for the DVD of Kung Fu Panda, the original."

Earlier, Jack Black, the voice actor of the film's main character Po, has revealed that he is pretty much sure that the movie will have its follow-up. Additionally, DreamWorks' topper, Jeffrey Katzenberg, confessed that though depending on how "Panda" turns out to be, there maybe five more films for the John Stevenson and Mark Osborne-directed movie. "There is a larger story here of which this is the first chapter. In the same way Shrek had five chapters from the beginning, this has six," revealed Katzenberg to AAP "Whether we get to tell those chapters or not isn't something we determine, the movie-goers determine. It needs to be a big hit. It needs to be a blockbuster."

Released in theaters on June 6, "Panda" opened atop the North American box office with $60.2 million during its weekend screening beating out its strongest competitor "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" and pushed "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" out from the champion seat. Since then, this animation movie that features also the voices of Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman and Seth Rogen has collected $229.8 million worldwide.
