The hip-hopster was arrested by Atlanta police Wednesday, June 18 on numerous misdemeanor charges, including driving while under the influence, speeding, reckless driving, and no tags.

AceShowbiz - Adding the long list of the number of hip hop music artists who have a run-in with the law is Young Jeezy. The Georgia rapper was arrested on early Wednesday, June 18 on numerous misdemeanor charges, one of which was driving while under the influence.

The rapper was driving a white Corvette on the ATL's Buford Highway thoroughfare near Interstate 85 when he was pulled over at about 2:30 A.M. for speeding. Police then found out that his car was missing its license plates.

"Everything just went from there," police spokesperson Officer James Polite said in a statement, adding that Jeezy has also been charged for having no tags or proof of insurance and driving with an open container.

TMZ broke the news of the arrest and claimed to have been informed by a source close to the star that Jeezy had just taken his brand new white Corvette to the car wash and the temporary plates had fallen off which then led to him being pulled over. The source added that Jeezy claimed the open container belonged to another passenger.

The hip-hopster, as a consequence, was taken into custody and booked at a nearby station before being released on bail several hours later. He's scheduled to return to court on July 17. Representatives for him couldn't be reached for comment at press time.

Professionally, Jeezy is having his latest album "The Recession" drops on July 29. He, according to reports, was in town to perform at Hot 107.9's annual Birthday Bash, an all-star concert that also featured Kanye West and Usher.
