AceShowbiz - "Not enough evidence to prosecute" has been cited as the reason for the juries to clear R. Kelly of all fourteen counts of child pornography. In the wake of the acquittal, the singer has been planning to party it up in Chicago, TMZ claimed.
Kelly, who's a notable R&B singer, was first charged six years ago after a kinky sex tape surfaced allegedly shows him having sex with a girl who was as young as 13 at the time. Was charged with 14 counts of child pornography, he faces a minimum of four years in prison and a maximum of 15 years. He would also have to register as a sex offender in Illinois.
He had long denied being on the video tape and even the alleged victim said it wasn't her on the footage. And after a long and tiring trial, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter was on Friday, June 13 acquitted of all the fourteen counts due to the fact that the juries, eight men and four women, found out that the man on the tape did not have a large mole on his back as Kelly does.
Greeted by a crowd of cheering fans, Kelly left the courthouse without speaking and was hustled by bodyguards into a waiting sports utility vehicle, which drove him to a nearby park where supporters were waiting. His spokesman, Allan Mayer, revealed that Kelly had had faith that he would be cleared.
Kelly "has said all along that he believes in our system, and he believes in God. He did not expect it to take six and a half years. This has been a terrible ordeal for him and his family," Allan stated.
