'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' Coming Out Early

To make sure that their latest chick flick can compete with the other movies, Warner Bros Pictures move up the release date of the movie starring Alexis Bledel and America Ferrera among others.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Pictures have brought great news for the chick flick lovers. The studio will bring out the teenage drama comedy sequel, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" earlier than its previous schedule. Setting the movie to be released on August 8, they have decided to move it forward for August 6 theatrical debut.

Though the two days difference may appear to be insignificant, it actually will help "Traveling Pants 2" to get a head start on the box office runs from its competitors, Columbia Pictures' "Pineapple Express" and Lionsgate Films' "The Perfect Game" which still maintain its August 8 release date schedule. "It gives us a couple days of extra summer play time," explained Dan Fellman, the Warner Bros' distribution president. "So it just looked like a smart thing to do."

The same strategy has been used previously by Walt Disney Pictures when they released the sequel to "Princess Diaries". "Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" opened on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 and managed to collect $8 million ahead of the weekend. The romantic comedy movie starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews ended up grossing $95 million from the North American market.

Bringing back the four starlet Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn, "Traveling Pants 2" continues the journey of the four lifelong friends who trade a magical jeans along with their experiences in life. This time, they have to be separated for real when they head into different college. Though far apart and facing the challenges of becoming adults, the four maintain the friendship that keep each and everyone of them intact.
