Movie

The DreamWorks animation movie about a lazy panda forced to be kung-fu master to save his country has been having its L.A. premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on June 1.

AceShowbiz - On Sunday morning, June 1, a big enthusiastic but clumsy panda was floating above the Grauman's Chinese Theatre. The enormous helium figure was displayed there to mark the L.A. premiere of the highly anticipated animation comedy "Kung Fu Panda" and also to welcome the Hollywood stars attending the special screening event.

Held nearly three weeks after its world premiere at the 61st Cannes Film Festival back on May 15, the L.A. premiere which covered a block of Hollywood Boulevard saw a unique performance from Jack Black and Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo who sang the film's rendition of "Kung Fu Fighting" in front of the theater before the screening takes place. The event also featured various activities that are entitled using the characters' names, including "Tigress' dance class" and "Viper's Chinese charms".

Like its premiere in Cannes, this special occasion was flooded with many of the film's stars and crew, including Hollywood stars Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, Michael Clark Duncan and directors John Stevenson and Mark Osborne. Despite the merriness, the one star missing out the red carpet event was Tigress voice-filler Angelina Jolie. Other celebrities attending the premiere included Brooke Shields, Teri Hatcher, Jenny McCarthy, Maria Bello and Aly & AJ.

"Kung Fu Panda" is coming out in less than a week on June 6. The flick follows the story of Po, a kung-fu fan who dreams on being a kung-fu master though is lacking in skills. But, when a powerful enemy is coming nearer and nearer, the laziest animals in the ancient China is forced to live up his dream and helped with a group of martial arts legend, he trains to be the "Chosen One".
