Heath Ledger Scholarship Fund Has Just Been Launched

L.A.-based organization Australians in Film has established the Heath Ledger Scholarship Fund, to be given annually to young Australian-based actors to help them pursue a career in Hollywood.

AceShowbiz - Physically Heath Ledger is dead already, but his image apparently won't ever fade away from people's mind. As a tribute to the late Australian actor, L.A.-based organization, Australians in Film (AIF), has launched the Heath Ledger Scholarship Fund, which is meant to help wannabe Australian actors to follow in the late star's footsteps.

The scholarship has been set to be presented annually to young Australia-based actors to help expand their careers in the U.S. Heath's family offers full support for the fund, taking into account that he was an AIF ambassador before his death in January.

The Heath Ledger Scholarship was announced as part of AIF's upcoming agenda of industry awards that include the 4th annual Breakthrough Awards, which this year will honor Australian actresses Abbie Cornish and Mia Wasikowska on June 5 in Beverly Hills.

"We're so pleased to recognize the efforts and talents of Australia's newest faces who are already proving they are on their way to join the ranks of the high-profile Australian talent working in Hollywood," Susie Dobson, AIF president, commented about the fund. "We are also thrilled that, through Heath's scholarship, we will be able to assist burgeoning Australian talent launch their careers in the U.S. to become potential future recipients of a Breakthrough Award."
