Talking about his latest film project, producer Richard Rubinstein revealed that he has planned to re-release George A. Romero's 1970 'Dawn of the Dead' using 3-D format.

AceShowbiz - The horrifying "Dawn of the Dead" is preparing to let out the scare once again and this time, the zombies will appear closer and more realistic to the audience, literally. On the new project, producer Richard Rubinstein has shared that he is planning on re-releasing George A. Romero's 1979 zombie movie in a 3-D format.
Exposing his plan to Fangoria, the filmmaker confessed that he has doubt over the "dimensionalization" re-editing at first, but when he is able to see the result, he said that he is in awe with the work of In-Three, Inc. "When Mike Messina [another producer on the DAWN redux] and I began to investigate using In-Three's technique, I was very skeptical," so claimed Rubinstein. "I couldn't see how it could be used without re-editing George's film, which I was not going to do."
"I was also concerned that converting a 29-year-old movie would not be competitive qualitatively with the new 3-D live-action features being shot today. I was wrong in both cases. George's DAWN OF THE DEAD can be reformatted into 3-D without any editing, and the image looks spectacular! As it stands now, it will take about a year to complete the conversion of the whole film."
It is further reported that the 3-D version of the original Romero's horror movie will be coming out in 2009. In the meantime, Rubinstein also let out his plan on making a sequel to the film. Still, he has yet to share any insight on the sequel project, except for the plan.
