Coldplay Announced 'Viva La Vida' Tour Dates

The English band have announced some of their official tour dates which is held to further promote their upcoming album "Viva la Vida or Death and all His Friends".

AceShowbiz - Shortly after promoting their upcoming album "Viva la Vida or Death and all His Friends" by giving free download of their new song "Violet Hill" to fans, Coldplay are set to go on a tour for further promo. The English band have confirmed some of the tour dates which plan to kick off on June 29 in Philadelphia and go on until 2009.

Until now it is only the North American dates that have been revealed, while the schedule for the Europe tour hasn't been confirmed yet. The band planned to do at least 50 shows in North America before stopping by in Europe and U.K. Beside that the band are also set to headline the Summer Sonic festival in Japan on August 9-10.

Before starting the tour, as it was previously reported Coldplay will do some performances, which are playing two free concerts at the Brixton Academy in London on June 16 and at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 23. Information about the tickets for the free concert and for the upcoming tour are available on the band's official website.

The band have set in total about 90 shows to do this year but it could go more than that as more dates are set to be announced soon. Commenting on that, Coldplay's manager David Holmes said, "Last time we ended up doing 150 shows; we'll probably end up roughly the same."

Meanwhile, the band's first single promo for the upcoming album has achieved a huge success as the free song was downloaded by two million people just a week after it was put on-line.
