Hank Williams to Be Inducted to Music City Hall of Fame

The father of country musician Hank Williams Jr. will be among the inductees this year, having his name embedded on the 'Music Miles'.

AceShowbiz - 2008 Music City Hall of Fame has announced a fresh batch of music icons that will grace the path of their 'Music Mile' this year. Those taking the fourth class induction which is presented by Gibson guitar are Hank Williams who is the father of Hank Williams Jr., Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Steven Curtis Chapman among others.

The induction ceremony will take place at Nashville's Hall of Fame Park on Sunday, April 20 at 3 P.M., with sponsorship by Great American Country (GAC). It will involve the unveiling of a sidewalk in commemoration of the artists. Public are welcomed to attend the event for free.

"It's a pleasure to honor the accomplishments of this talented class of inductees," said Butch Spyridon, president of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Each honoree represents the immense talent, creativity and diverse musical styles that have made Nashville, Music City."

Others who will also be inducted are Merle Kilgore, Steve Wariner and Kirk Whalum. Each of the stars' names will be installed on a permanent sidewalk made of stainless steel and terrazzo, on top of a star-and-guitar plague. Their spot will be laid on Demonbreun, between 4th and 5th Avenues South.

"The Music City Walk of Fame continues to celebrate the enormous talent which has originated from Nashville over the years," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. "It continues to be an honor to be involved with the Walk of Fame program as it continues to grow and recognize the rich tradition and heritage that only Nashville can claim as its own."
