Timbaland was named the Songwriter of the Year at ASCAP Pop Music Awards on Wednesday, April 9.

AceShowbiz - Timbaland nabbed the R 'n' B songwriter of the year nod for the second time yesterday, April 9 when the winners of the 25th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards were announced. The event that honors music icons and their works also saw Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie and Gwen Stefani in the winners list.

Timbaland was given the honor for he has contributed in nine award-wining songs such as his own singles "The Way I Are" and "Give It to Me", as well as others like Justin Timberlake's "Until the End of Time" and Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous". This would be the second time he has brought home the title for in 2003 he was also awarded with the same one for his works in singles "I Care 4 U", "More Than a Woman", "Oops (Oh My)", "Work It".

Meanwhile, a tie happens on the Song of the Year category. Fergie's ballad "Big Girls Don't Cry" is put on the same level of Stefani's hit "The Sweet Escape". The former was written by Fergie and Toby Gad while the latter was penned by Stefani, Akon and Giorgio Tuinfort.

Most performed songs in 2007 are also given recognition at the event held at Kodak Theater and the top 5 are "Big Girls", "Sweet Escape", Beyonce Knowles' "Irreplaceable", DAUGHTRY's "It's Not Over" and Furtado's "Say It Right".

"Love Song" crooner Sara Bareilles has been announced previously that she receives this year's Vanguard Award. Lionel Richie and Steve Miller were also the honorary guests to receive ASCAP's Golden Note award.
