AceShowbiz - The upcoming James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" is reportedy going to have an intricate shot involving state of the art special effects gadgets. According to an official announcement made by DALSA Digital Cinema on Tuesday, March 25, the highly anticipated action adventure film will be shot using eight shutter-synchronized DALSA 4K Origin cameras.

Though details about the cameras' use haven't been specified at the time being, it was noted that the complex visual effect shot will feature the stars of the Columbia Pictures' movie, Daniel Craig and Olga Kurylenko. Further, the announcement also suggested that the filming using the cameras might be done in Movietech Camera Rentals at Pinewood Studios as the press release read, "DALSA shipped all the camera packages from Los Angeles to Movietech Camera Rentals at Pinewood Studios. Working closely with Movietech, the cameras were all prepped for the complex shoot."

On getting the honor to provide the cameras for the 22nd installment of Bond film, the President of DALSA Digital Cinema Rob Hummel expressed his excitement stating, "We were incredibly excited to be chosen for this complex part of the movie. It was amazing as we watched all eight cameras shooting and pouring data into the CODEX disc units. In total, we recorded over 3.8 gigabytes of image data every second. After a year of fine tuning the DALSA camera system, we felt we were ready to put the camera to the test. Of course, passing this particularly tough test, with eight cameras synchronized together, was the best outcome I could imagine!"

Directed by "Finding Neverland" helmer Marc Forster, "Solace" follows Bond's other adventure as he attempts to uncover the truth behind his lover's betrayal while at the same time save the world. This 22nd James Bond movie will also feature Judi Dench, Mathieu Amalric, Gemma Arterton and Jesper Christensen among others. It will hit the North American theaters on November 7, 2008.

UPDATE 03/26/08: It has been further reported that "Solace" will have Cerro Paranal as one of its filming locations. On March 26, 2008, ESO (European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere)has released statement noticing, "Cerro Paranal, the 2600m high mountain in the Chilean Atacama Desert that hosts ESO's Very Large Telescope, will be the stage for scenes in the next James Bond movie, 'Quantum of Solace'." On the choosing of the location, producer Michael G. Wilson commented, "The Residencia of Paranal Observatory caught the attention of our director, Marc Forster and production designer, Dennis Gassner, both for its exceptional design and its remote location in the Atacama desert. It is a true oasis and the perfect hide-out for Dominic Greene, our villain, whom 007 is tracking in our new James Bond film."
