Ne-Yo will release 'Year of Gentleman' as his third album, explaining it the kind of image that his music wants to personify.

AceShowbiz - Ne-Yo's third LP begins to take shape with the announcement of the album's tentative title. The R'n'B crooner revealed to MTV that it will be called "Year of the Gentleman" and that the first official single will be "Closer" that was serviced to radio stations on Friday, March 14.

On choosing such title for the album Ne-Yo explained, "I'm trying to take it back to where you couldn't walk out of the house unless you looked your best. Back in the day of, say, the Rat Pack and Nat King Cole... any picture you ever see, they're suited and everything is right from top to bottom. Not saying it has to be a suit, 'cause clothes don't make the man - it's the attitude and person. The music needs to personify that."

Ne-Yo then added that the album will be a blend of "urban", "pop" and some are going to be somewhere in the "middle". Comparing it to his 2007 effort "Because of You", he said, "The third (LP) is more of the good (music). The second album proved I'm here to stay. I won a Grammy for that one. So, I'm here to win more Grammys. At the same time, I love what it is I do, so (this is) another excuse for me to pen more facets of my personality."

Ne-Yo also spared his time explaining "Closer", saying that it's "a club record" that he explores through listening a lot of "European stuff". He continued, "It's basically me being infatuated with a girl, and she's dancing. For whatever reason, you can't take your eyes off of her."

The singer-producer who is also working on Lindsay Lohan's third album, has not set a release date but it is expected to be released before the end of the year.
