'Stardust' Dubbed 19th GLAAD Media Awards' Outstanding Film

Beating out two other contenders, the film starring Claire Danes and Sienna Miller has brought home the Outstanding Film for wide release at the 19th GLAAD Media Awards on Monday, March 17.

AceShowbiz - As winners of the 19th Annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards have been announced on Monday, March 17, it was revealed that the adventure drama fantasy film "Stardust" has nailed one of the top prizes given out. On the special event held at New York's Marriott Marquis, the Paramount Pictures' film has shown its dominance over the other two contenders "Across the Universe" and "The Jane Austen Book Club".

The film featuring Claire Danes, Charlie Cox and Sienna Miller has brought home Outstanding Film in the category of wide release. Aside from the Matthew Vaughn-directed film, another movie receiving the Outstanding Film kudo was the 2006 Israeli gay love story feature film "The Bubble" which nailed the award for the category of limited release. "Bubble" beat out "Itty Bitty Titty Committee", "Nina's Heavenly Delights", "Dirty Laundry" and "Whole New Thing".

Concerning the documentary's category, the award for Outstanding Documentary went to Daniel Karslake's religion documentary "For the Bible Tells Me So", whereas the other categories' winners can be read at GLAAD.org. At this awards event, only 26 out of 40 media categories' recipients were announced. The rest of the kudos will be presented in three other occasions in South Florida, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The ceremony in South Florida will be held on April 12 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, followed by Los Angeles on April 26 at the Kodak Theatre, and last San Francisco on May 10 at the San Francisco Marriott.
