Carrie Underwood Invited to Grand Ole Opry

Carrie Underwood has been issued an invitation to become the member of the long-running country radio show.

AceShowbiz - Carrie Underwood is officially invited to become a member of Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, March 15. The long-running country music radio show will induct the American Idol alumna to the community on May 10.

Underwood who received the invitation from Grammy-winning singer Randy Travis after she sang Travis' "I Told You So," said that she was surprised of given such honor. She said, "I felt like I just won something amazing all over again. The Opry has meant so much to me growing up, seeing people perform and wanting to do that."

Underwood made her first Opry appearance on June 10, 2005, just two weeks after winning the American Idol competition. With the induction, she becomes the latest young hitmaker to be invited to the community. According to the Opry camp, those inducted are judged based on their commitment to the show, be it the frequency of guest appearances and overall contribution to country music.

Underwood shot to fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol. She released "Some Hearts" in 2005 that spawned a multiple award-winning single "Before He Cheats". The song "I Told You So" was recorded in her second album "Carnival Ride" (2007).
