Mariah Carey has been confirmed to be Janet Jackson's replacement on Saturday Night Live, singing songs from her new album.

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey is doing a favor for fellow Def Jam artist Janet Jackson by replacing the sick singer on "Saturday Night Live". Jackson pulls out of the gig that supposes to take place this weekend after being admitted to a Los Angeles hospital on Monday (March 10) for what was described as shortness of breath.

Organizers confirmed that Carey will appear on the Saturday show which will be guest hosted by Jonah Hill. This would be the first time Carey would appear on the show in nearly a decade for the last time she was on the show was on November 1997. According to Carey's official site, she will perform "Migrate" and "Touch My Body", songs from her upcoming album, "E=MC²".

As for Jackson, her rep has confirmed that she is "fine", ruling the illness as simply a flu. "Janet did go to the hospital last night due to the fact she's been suffering from this flu that's kicked a lot of people's behinds," Jackson's publicist Patti Webster said in a press release. "She was never admitted and she is fine."

This would not be the first time Carey has replaced Jackson. Carey overtook a movie role in "Tennessee" as a waitress when work commitments and film delays made Jackson quitting the project.

The SNL show will be broadcast on NBC at 11:30 P.M. ET.
