Dolly Parton is ordered by doctors to have a good 4 to 6 weeks rest before jumping on a tour to promote her latest release "Backwoods Barbie".

AceShowbiz - Dolly Parton has to cancel her U.S. tour in promotion of her latest album "Backwoods Barbie" after she hurt her back. The jaunt was due to begin February 28 in Minneapolis but because she was ordered by doctor to rest, she will reschedule it for dates in April or May.

On the postponement, the country singer released a statement saying "I know I have been breaking my neck and bending over backwards trying to get my new 'Backwoods Barbie' CD and world tour together, but I didn't mean to hurt myself doing it!"

She added, "But hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems. Seriously though, the doctors said I will be good as new in a few weeks, and I can't wait to get back out there."

With the cancellation, it is now confirmed that Parton will not attend the South by Southwest festival that takes place in Austin on March 14. The rescheduled dates will be squeezed before she begins the European leg that starts June 13 in Stockholm.

"Backwoods Barbie" will be released on February 26 . The singer had signed a major deal with INgrooves to distribute the album digitally for worldwide reach.
