Heath Ledger's funeral will be held Saturday, February 9 in his hometown of Perth in a small ceremony attended by only 10 people, it has been confirmed.

AceShowbiz - A private funeral for the late actor Heath Ledger will be held in Perth today, February 9, his father Kim Ledger has confirmed.

Revealing the funeral plans, Kim said the private event will take place at Penrhos College, a girls' boarding school in the nearby Perth suburb of Como, added that the funeral would be limited to only 10 people.

"The funeral will be very, very private," Kim said in the Perth suburb of Applecross on Saturday morning, local time. "There will only be 10 people there, which is my immediate family and nobody else."

Among mourners who were seen entering Penrhos College later in the morning was Heath's close friend Gemma Ward. Jake Gyllenhaal, who co-starred with Heath in the critically-acclaimed gay cowboy movie "Brokeback Mountain" was this week reported to be planning to attend the funeral but has not yet been seen in Perth.

Heath's former fiancee Michelle Williams and their daughter Matilda Rose Ledger have already arrived in Perth on Wednesday, February 6 to attend the funeral.

Went on saying, "it's a pretty sad time. We're finding it difficult to cope by ourselves, let alone to cope with everybody around the world" Kim also at the same time asked that the massive media pack that has been staking out the family home in the western Australian city to respect the privacy of the actor's grieving relatives.

Kim said further that "We do really appreciate the out-powering and the emotional support from all over the globe, which suffice to say we're luckier than most families - most families that are in our positions, in our grieving position, don't receive that kind of support."

Heath was found dead, naked in bed, surrounded by prescription sleeping pills in the bedroom of his Soho apartment around 3:30 P.M. back on January 22 by his housekeeper and a masseuse who had arrived for an appointment with the actor. After an initial toxicology test that remained inconclusive, it was ruled on Wednesday, February 6 that the Aussie heartthrob died of an accidental "abuse of prescription medications."
