Busta Rhymes was on Wednesday, January 23 sentenced to 10 days of community service and three years probation in separate assault cases.

AceShowbiz - Had initially been pleaded innocent to assault, two driving infractions and weapons possession, thus avoided a trial and the yearlong prison sentence recommended by prosecutors, Busta Rhymes however was pleaded guilty Wednesday, January 23 to all the charges and was sentenced to three years probation and 10 days of community service.

Agreed to work out a deal with prosecutors in separate assault cases in an attempt to avoid some quality time in Rikers Island, Busta copped to two misdemeanor assault charges stemmed from incidents involving an alleged beating of his former driver Larry Hackett back in December 2006 and a separate alleged beating of a fan named Roberto LeBron in August the same year on a New York street corner after Roberto accidentally spitting on Busta's SUV.

While the prosecutors urged a sentence of one-year in jail for Busta for both assault charges, Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Larry Stephen sentenced the rap star to only three years probation and 10 days of community service. Busta, additionally, was also fined $1,250 for driving with a suspended license in 2006 and driving while intoxicated in 2007 while as well was ordered to give up his driver's license for six months.

"I just want to say that I'm very grateful to the judge, I'm very grateful to the system. I believe in the system. It hasn't failed me personally yet," Busta said as he made his way out of the courtroom. "I'm just glad that all of this is finally behind me and I can go back to doing what I do best - making great music and great films and being a people person."

Busta is due back in court on March 18 to enroll in an anti-drunken driving program.
