'Stardust' Nominated for 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards

The film starring Claire Danes and Sienna Miller has been announced to be one of the nominees of Outstanding Film by Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

AceShowbiz - Paramount Pictures' fantasy film "Stardust" gathered nod from the 19th annual GLAAD Media Awards as the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced their nominations. The Matthew Vaughn directed-film was recognized under the category of Outstanding Film for Wide Release.

For the prize honor, the film starring Claire Danes, Charlie Cox and Sienna Miller will have to face two other strong contenders, "Across the Universe" and "The Jane Austen Book Club". "Universe" is a Beatles-inspired musical love story starring Evan Rachel Wood and directed by Julie Taymor, while "Jane Austen" is a romantic drama film adapted from Karen Joy Fowler's bestseller novel featuring Kathy Baker, Maria Bello, Emily Blunt, Amy Brenneman and Hugh Dancy.

Aside from the nomination of the Wide Release, GLADD also gave out count for Limited Release Outstanding Film. The nominees for the particular category were the 2006 Israeli film about a gay love story between an Israeli man and a Palestinian man "The Bubble", the 2007 lesbian-related comedy film "Itty Bitty Titty Committee", the 2006 U.K. comedy film "Nina's Heavenly Delights", and two other films, "Dirty Laundry" and "Whole New Thing".

GLAAD Media Awards is an award event recognizing and honoring media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives. The format of 2008 GLAAD events will be the same as the previous years. It will begin with a ceremony at New York's Marriott Marquis on March 17 followed by bashes in South Florida's Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on April 12, Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre on April 26 and San Francisco's Marriot on May 10.
