After weeks of speculations, the production companies of "Bond 22" have confirmed that the "St. Trinian's" actress is indeed cast as a Bond girl.

AceShowbiz - Though being secretive about the cast of "Bond 22" for a while, the film's production companies finally confirmed that Gemma Arterton is indeed a new Bond girl. According to Hollywood Reporter, on Friday, January 4, Eon Productions in London, Santa Monica-based Danjaq Production, as well as ICM, Arterton's agent, have confirmed the casting.

It is said that in the action-adventure film directed by Marc Forster, the British newcomer will star as 'Fields'. Additionally, though details of her character remained as secret, a Danjaq representative hinted that her character is "a nice-sized role".

Words of the co-star of Colin Firth and Rupert Everett in "St. Trinian's" is being casted in the new installment of James Bond movie have been swirling since mid-December. However, the producers of the movie have left people questioning until the production companies broke the news.

Meanwhile, the Daniel Craig-starring film that is said to be the continuance of "Casino Royale" is currently filming in London. It is produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and is schedule for release on November 7, 2008.
