Alanis Morissette to Release New Album in 2008

The 'Jagged Little Pill' singer will release her new studio album, 'Flavors of Entanglement', after four years.

AceShowbiz - After four years in 'hibernation', Alanis Morissette is ready to release a new album some time on spring 2008. Words said that the 33-year-old Canadian-American singer is putting finishing touches on her seventh studio album, "Flavors of Entanglement". Allegedly, the 'Jagged Little Pill' hitmaker is currently working on cutting down the materials to only 11 tracks in the following weeks.

Concerning the album, Morissette opened up that the album that is produced by former Frou Frou member, Guy Sigsworth, dug deep into her personal struggles throughout the last few years. About it, she commented, "Really, in the end, the personal struggles are political. Our emotions align themselves with larger symptomatic things in the world. We face a large war out there, but (the album) more closely reflects the war in peoples' living rooms... the icy silence at home, versus the big cold war."

The singer who started her career by releasing dance-pop albums also revealed that the album is a combination of her various musical interest from organic instruments to hip-hop beats. She even went further by doing something that she never did before, having a boy as a back-up singer, stating, "...it's the first time since I was 16 I've had a boy back-up sing on one of my album. I'm finally giving them a chance"

The album will be a follow-up to her 2004's album, "So-Called Chaos", that her poorest selling studio album. Further, it will include "Not As We" featured only piano and vocals and "Moratorium" that is in essence a song about her readiness to stop repeating bad patterns. Additionally, the former girlfriend of actor Ryan Reynolds will be the opening act for the Matchbox 20 tour started on January 25, 2008 to test the material.
