Alicia Keys to Be Honored by BET

Alicia Keys, joined by Tyra Banks are among African American people who are recognized for their notable works in their respective field and honored for it.

AceShowbiz - Alicia Keys, who is reigning the chart with her killer hit 'No One', will be one of those who is granted a Black Entertainment Television (BET) honor. In the event "which celebrates the lives of leading African American luminaries", Keys will represent the entertainment field.

Model Tyra Banks also made it into the list, being recognized in the media category while others would be Dr. Cornel West (Inspirational/Education), Richard Parsons (Corporate), the Honorable Maxine Waters (Government) and CEO Janice Bryant Howroyd (Entrepreneur).

"Each of these remarkable individuals has made significant contributions to the Black community and American culture overall, and BET Networks is proud to recognize them through this very special, new tentpole event," said Debra Lee, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, BET Networks.

The event which is hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, will be held at Washington, D.C.'s Warner Theater on January 12 and air on the network on February 22 at 8:00 P.M. ET/PT. More presenters and announcers will be announced soon.

Keys is honored after her achievement in selling millions of copies of her albums and winning several prestigious awards. She is nominated for two Grammys next year, one for 'Best Female R'n'B Vocal Performance' and the other for Best R'n'B Song for 'No One'.
