Paramount Vantage's "Into the Wild" won top prize Best Feature with "Sicko" being named the Best Documentary.

AceShowbiz - Holding the ceremony at Steiner Studios, the Brooklyn soundstages where a range of major pics and TV series have been shot, the Independent Feature Project (IFP) listed out winners for its 17th Gotham Awards Tuesday, November 27, 2007, giving the top honor Best Feature to road movie "Into the Wild."
Michael Moore-directed "Sicko" nabbed the Best Documentary title while comedic flick "Frownland" landed the cheekily named prize, Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You. Other titles of "Talk to Me" and "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" were reported to tie for the Best Ensemble Cast honor.
As for the film-making figure, the organization delightfully bestowed the Breakthrough Director award to Craig Zobel for his work in "Great World of Sound." Starlet Ellen Page, in the meantime, got deemed the Breakthrough Actor, definitely for her lauded performance in teen pregnancy feature "Juno", which previously won the best film trophy at the second edition of Rome Film Festival.
Apart from the six categories in competition, the ceremony also marked the presentation of award tributes to six noted figures in film industry consisting of movie critic Roger Ebert, actor Javier Bardem, director Mira Nair, production designer Mark Friedberg, IFC Entertainment prexy Jonathan Sehring, and New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Event was hosted by Tony Award-winning actor and playwright Sarah Jones with Kyra Sedgwick, Uma Thurman, and Keri Russell among the presenters. NYC TV and The Documentary Channel have been confirmed to broadcast it locally on December 4, 2007 at 9:00 PM EST and nationally on December 8, 2007 at 8:00 PM EST, respectively.
