AceShowbiz - Eager to stay bit longer in romantic comedy genre after "27 Dresses", Katherine Heigl has given her agreement to topline a battle-of-the-sexes flick entitled "The Ugly Truth" that Lakeshore Entertainment is set to develop.

The beauty will portray a romantically challenged morning show producer who is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent. The clever ploys the man hatches to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love, however, lead to an unexpected result in the end.

Project, in the meantime, marks the the reunion of director Robert Luketic and writers Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith. The threesome were known to work together successfully in 2001's "Legally Blonde", which led Reese Witherspoon to be an A-list actress and one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood.

Shooting on the movie reportedly is slated to start on April 15, 2008 with Columbia Pictures to distribute it worldwide. Serving as producers are Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi as well as Steve Reuther.
