Justin Timberlake has been tapped to host the PGA Tour's annual Las Vegas as part of a five-year agreement with the PGA that will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

AceShowbiz - His becoming part of the Los Angeles exclusive golf club, Mountain Gate Country Club, is no longer a secret, and now Justin Timberlake is getting his own golf tournament with his being signed to host the PGA Tour's annual Las Vegas event starting from next year as part of a five-year agreement with the PGA that will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Grammy-winning singer tapping to host the PGA Tour was made public by the professional golfers' association on Monday November 12th, thus making him the 14th celebrity to host an event, joining the likes of Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Glen Campbell among others.

The Vegas tour stop, renamed the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, is scheduled for October 13-19, 2008 with Justin himself scheduled to play in an October 15th celebrity Pro-Am that precedes the 72-hole tournament and host a concert sometime during the week.

About his being involved in the project, Justin commented in a statement "We will make sure to make this event unique and memorable, and we will raise money for charity while participating in the greatest game ever played," adding that he "couldn't be more excited" to be hosting the upcoming event, saying "I thank the PGA Tour and the Shriners Hospitals for Children for this amazing opportunity. Raising money to better children's lives while playing golf? I can't think of a better way to pass the time."

Shriners Hospitals for Children Board of Trustees chair Ralph Semb, meanwhile, said "Justin's involvement will bring an unprecedented amount of attention and interest to the [event], which will assist us in our work to help young people receive the quality medical treatment they deserve, at no cost."
