A scene for the flick planned to be executed at Hong Kong's Victoria harbor was canceled after producers learned about the poor quality of the water.

AceShowbiz - Apparently battling his foes is way much easier for Batman than plunging into Hong Kong harbor's water.
Report from South China Morning Post has just informed that producers of "The Dark Knight" were forced to cancel a scene involving the superhero jumping from a plane into the city's famed Victoria harbor due to water pollution. Those studio execs seemingly considered the water quality there was horribly poor and so, could pose a potential health risk for the one conducting the stunt.
"The plan was for Batman to be seen jumping into the water and then climbing up some bamboo," an unnamed production official said as quoted by the paper. "But when they checked a water sample, they found all sorts of things, salmonella and tuberculosis, so it was canceled. Now the action will cut to inside a building."
Spokesperson for October Pictures, the Hong Kong production company managing the shoot, refused to give any comment on the matter. However, a spokeswoman for Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Department was learned to admit that the harbor was indeed not suitable for swimming though local government had launched a project to collect and treat all sewage before it reaches the water.
