Spiderwick Chronicles to Also Hit IMAX Theaters

The fantasy adventure will show up on IMAX screens the same day it hits conventional theaters on February 15, 2008.

AceShowbiz - Intends to enhance the adventurous excitement presented in "The Spiderwick Chronicles" on larger screen, Paramount Pictures and IMAX Corporation announced Thursday, November 1, 2007 that the fantasy adventure is going to also get an IMAX release when it opens in conventional theaters on February 15, 2008.

With the announcement, pic thereby marks the fourth film of Paramount Pictures to grace IMAX screens in the past five months. It certainly will then be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience through IMAX's DMR (Digital Re-Mastering) technology.

"The grand scale and immersive nature of The IMAX Experience gives Spiderwick a brand new level of excitement," the film's producer Mark Canton stated. "In IMAX theatres, fans will be drawn into the movie even further and feel as if they are actually part of the story."

Enthusiastic response was also noted to come out from IMAX's representatives, Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler.

"THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES is an ideal fit for the IMAX brand and our audience, and it is a terrific way to launch our slate for 2008," the two commented. "Paramount Pictures' continued enthusiasm towards IMAX theaters as a distribution platform is adding to the strength of our release schedule, which contributes to the growing popularity of The IMAX Experience, and ultimately the growth of the IMAX theater network."

Rated PG for scary creature action and violence, peril and some thematic elements, "Spiderwick" is directed by "Mean Girls" maker Mark Waters from a screenplay by Karey Kirkpatrick, David Berenbaum and John Sayles. Pic centers on the adventures of brothers Simon, Mallory, and Jared Grace in their battle against goblins and other magical creatures who are after Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide.
