Star Tom Cruise was spotted to spend over two hours greeting the British fans before the flick's screening at London's Odeon Leicester Square

AceShowbiz - The time has finally come for political drama "Lions for Lambs" to be unveiled as it encountered its world premiere yesterday, Monday, October 22, 2007 as part of this year's London Film Festival, highlighted by the arrival of its star Tom Cruise on the red carpet.

The striking actor nicely spent over two hours prior to the screening to greet fans who had waited for him in the cold and wet weather, signing autographs and getting his pictures taken outside London's Odeon Leicester Square, where the premiere was held.

"It's really nice. I actually was surprised that there were this many people here. I thought it's raining, it's cold," he remarked to BBC News 24 upon expressing his delight of meeting the British fans.

The good-natured atmosphere, however, was slightly distracted when the crowds' bags got inspected by organizers of the event. Such action apparently was carried to prevent the occurrence of similar thing to water pistol incident that Cruise experienced at the same spot in 2005 during the London premiere for "War of the Worlds."

Meanwhile, there was no sign of the flick's leading lady Meryl Streep at the premiere. Other principal cast member Robert Redford, who also serves as the director, preferred to avoid the media and entered the theater through the back entrance instead.
