Script for Francis Ford Coppola's New Pic Tetro Stolen
Movie

Five armed bandits reportedly broke into the filmmaker's office and took away a computer containing the screenplay for the movie.

AceShowbiz - A computer containing the screenplay for Francis Ford Coppola's new project "Tetro" got stolen by armed bandits when they raided the famed filmmaker's Argentine headquarters on Wednesday night (Sept 26).

An independent news agency, Noticias Argentinas, reported at least five people broke into the offices of Zoetrope Argentina, tying up employees then taking computers, cameras, and other valuables. One of the computers taken turned out to store a script for the movie, which is set to start shooting next year.

Coppola was learned to be not in Buenos Aires at the time of the incident, though. Meanwhile, a spokesman to local federal police confirmed that a robbery had indeed occurred but could not give any details apart from informing that a judge was investigating.

Responding to this awful happening, a New York-based representative for Coppola, Kathleen Talbert, however, remarked in an email to The Associated Press that the script was saved in other places while informing "The Godfather" director would issue no statement regarding the burglary. Nevertheless, an employee to his office was quoted to say that the man "is very sad and the only thing he's asked for is to get back his computer, which is essential for him and for his work."

In related news, which is rather contrasting with the robbery, Coppola's other movie "Youth Without Youth" has been announced to meet its world premiere at this year's Rome Film Festival, slated to run October 18-27, 2007. Pic, Coppola's first directing effort since 1997's "The Rainmaker", centers on a professor whose life changes after a cataclysmic incident during the dark years prior to World War II.

"It is a film that we strongly wanted. ... Coppola, who is back with a philosophical noir, will be here. It's a film that will leave a sign and will make people talk," Piera Detassis, one of the festival's directors, commented.
