Jude Law is set to play the title role in Shakespeare's greatest play "Hamlet" in West End, it has been reported.

AceShowbiz - Jude Law is heading for West End. The British actor is set to play the title role in Shakespeare's greatest play "Hamlet" in West End.

The play, which will be staged by mid 2009 at London's Wyndham Theatre and at the Donmar Warehouse theatre in Covent Garden, will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Has said in the past that he longed to play the Prince of Denmark, Law will probably take the stage opposite former lover Sienna Miller who reportedly auditioned for the part of Ophelia.

"Sienna is concerned it will be too painful to play Jude's tragic partner on stage every night. It will also be dangerous for them to spend so much time together because of their turbulent romantic history. But there's no denying their chemistry and acting abilities, it would be an electric performance," Britain's Daily Star newspaper quoted a source as saying.

Law and Miller once got engaged, but later on broke up after he issued a public apology to her for having an affair with his children's nanny. They did reconcile after that, but it was not for long as by November 16, 2006 they made public that their relationship was over.
