Jennifer Hudson Being Lined Up for a Part in Sex and the City

Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of "Sex and the City" movie version which will begin filming next week in New York.

AceShowbiz - Kicked off her early career as one of the finalists on the third season of the FOX television series "American Idol," Jennifer Hudson is famous already, thanks to her Oscar winning role in the 2006 "Dreamgirls". And now she's willing to try another acting role by signing to join the cast of the forthcoming movie version of hit television show "Sex and the City."

Hudson is said to be in final negotiations to star in the comedy romance flick, joining its original cast Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Chris Noth. She's set to portray the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw.

Michael Patrick King is set to write and direct, as well as giving hand at producing alongside Parker, John Melfi and Darren Star.

The "Sex and the City" movie reportedly will follow the lives of the four main characters, four years after the time frame of the finale of the HBO series, which wrapped its six-year run in 2004. Shooting will begin next Wednesday September 19th in New York.
